Cooling that comes from the fibre
Most bedding is cotton, a fibre that absorbs moisture rather than dispersing it. Sweat in the night and cotton holds it against the skin, which is why you can wake up damp rather than simply warm.
Fabrics sold as cooling often rely on a finish applied to the surface. Finishes wash out, which is why a set that felt cool in the first month can feel ordinary by the sixth.
Eucalyptus lyocell behaves differently because the temperature regulation belongs to the fibre itself. There is nothing to wash out, and the fabric softens with each wash instead of stiffening.
